Tata Motors, India's largest electric vehicle manufacturer, today showcased the idea of its new electric SUV Curvv in India. The automaker shared teaser materials for the upcoming concept last Sunday.
According to Shailesh Chandra, general director of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, the business plans to launch vehicles based on the concept in two years. SUVs based on the new idea will first be offered as electric vehicles, with petrol/diesel versions following later.
The new electric SUV coupe from Tata will sit above the Nexon EV in the company's lineup. The Tata Curvv Electric SUV concept features a coupe-styled
body. The final name for the production-spec SUV has yet to be determined.
This month, the Tata Curvv idea is one of three new products introduced by the company. The Nexon EV, a long-range electric vehicle, is set to debut on April 20. On April 28, 2022, Tata Motors is set to unveil a new product.

According to Tata, the models will be constructed on a new vehicle architecture designed just for electric vehicles.
EVs based on the new architecture, according to rumours, will have larger batteries and a certified range of 400 to 500 kilometres. According to the firm, the new vehicles would be able to charge faster and more efficiently.
Here are the features of the Tata Curvv, based on what the company has revealed:
- A increased riding height, robust cladding, and aggressive proportions characterise the external design.
- It has a triangle headlight design with a slender top DRL.
- The Day Light Opening is designed in the style of a traditional SUV coupe.
- The interior is light and airy, with no clutter.
- Large offsets is seen on the front and back fenders.
- A grooved design is all over the lower front bumper.
- Aero blade inserts in the wheels seal up the open space and improve airflow across the surfaces.
- Tata Curvv sports a huge panoramic glass roof with a rear spoiler that is integrated into the roofline.
The two free-standing digital screens – one for the entertainment system and one for the instrument cluster – as well as the new two-spoke steering wheel design are some of the major design elements on the dashboard. A panoramic sunroof and a floating centre console arrangement with a gap between the climate control switches and the region that holds the rotary gear selector and centre armrest are also included in the cabin.
The powerful design language is complemented by the prominent haunches, and the sharp shoulder line fits nicely with the back.
In terms of the back, it appears to be quite muscular, with conjoined taillights that appear to be very modern.
Tata's Generation 2 EV architecture will also be used in the Curvv concept, which is designed to support a variety of body forms and powertrain options. The Gen 2 design, like the Gen 1 architecture used in the present Nexon EV, makes extensive modifications to existing Tata platforms to accommodate larger batteries and additional engine options. The Curvv's base will also be able to accommodate a dual motor setup, allowing for all-wheel drive.
The Curvv will not be available in a hybrid version; instead, it will be launched as an electric vehicle (EV) with an internal combustion engine (ICE) variant to come later.
When will New Tata Curvv Launch?
In India, it will compete against the MG ZS EV and the Hyundai Kona Electric, with the production version of the Tata Curvv EV Coupe slated to hit the road in 2024. The concept CURVV will appeal to new age progressive customers who are ahead of the curve, according to the firm, because of its innately expressive design.
Tata Motors controls approximately 90% of India's electric vehicle market. In the fiscal year that ended March 31, it sold 19,000 electric vehicles, up from 4,200 the previous year
