List of All New Free Games for PS Now and Games that will be removed from Subscription

This week, PS Now will disclose its free games for May 2022, just ahead of the release of the next batch of PlayStation Plus titles.
The good news is that we already know what's in store for PS Plus, and even more important improvements, such as additional levels and bonuses for those willing to pay extra, are on the way soon.

It's worth noting, though, that while PS Now and PS Plus will eventually merge, some significant modifications and tweaks could happen this month.

Here's what we know so far regarding Sony's May 2022 announcement of free PS Now games.

On Monday, May 2, 2022, Sony could unveil new PS Now titles, but there could also be other announcements. Sony is reportedly going to remove a number of games from the service in May, according to a new report. This procedure is planned to begin on May 3rd, when additional games will be added. However, a significant migration of titles, including games from series like Yakuza and Sonic, could follow.

Another high-profile departure will be Grand Theft Auto: Vice City – Definitive Edition, which will leave PS Now on May 2. As a result, Sony's typical PS Now game release could also include a major update on which titles may be departing the service before it merges with PlayStation Plus.

Sony's PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now subscription services have been kept separate for years. Customers who subscribed to PlayStation Plus received free games every month as well as access to online multiplayer, and users who subscribed to PlayStation Now were able to stream and download hundreds of PlayStation titles. Now that Sony has combined PS Plus and PlayStation Now under its new PlayStation Plus subscription tiers, it appears that an exodus of 56 or more titles will follow.

Users will have three subscription tiers to pick from when the new PS Plus subscription tiers are released. PS Plus Essential is the current version of PS Plus, whereas PS Plus Extra is PS Plus combined with PlayStation Now. PS Plus Premium, on the other hand, goes a step further by including 300 or so retro games in the mix, with titles from the PS1, PS2, PS3, and PSP eras available to users.

The release date for the PS Plus May 2022 free games has been set for Tuesday, May 3, 2022. The new titles will be added to the monthly library at roughly 11 a.m. BST, and will include FIFA 22, Tribes of Midgard, and Curse of the Dead Gods. Before that happens, gamers should download the April free games, such as SpongeBob SquarePants Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated, Slay the Spire, and Hood Outlaws & Legends.

PS Plus Premium will start with around 700 games, despite the fact that PlayStation Now currently has a large library of games to pick from. However, it appears that 56 titles may be dropping out of the roster before the transition. Cobra Bite, a Reddit member, has collected a list of games that will be removed from PlayStation Now in May. Some of the games are obscure, but there are also some well-known titles in the mix.

Even if all of these games do indeed leave the PlayStation Now lineup next month, players should still have plenty of new stuff to look forward to until the PS Plus integration is removed. Six blockbuster PlayStation games, including God of War and Spider-Man: Miles Morales, have been announced for the PS Plus Extra and Premium lineups at launch.
